What is Aleph?
Section titled “What is Aleph?”Aleph is a local-first, model-agnostic AI work environment. The model is only part of the system; Aleph brings together the context, tools, memory, permissions, interfaces, execution, workflows, and specialized environments around it.
Which models can I use?
Section titled “Which models can I use?”The product direction includes a local Qwen 8B path, bring-your-own API keys, and supported external provider adapters. Exact models and agent/CLI integrations are build-dependent. See models and agents.
What is the Workshop?
Section titled “What is the Workshop?”Workshop is the shared, composable environment where users assemble models, agents, tools, resources, connectors, and context.
Which specialized workspaces exist?

Is Aleph local?
Section titled “Is Aleph local?”Aleph is local-first. Workspaces, files, chats, artifacts and local execution live on the computer. An invoked remote model, API or connector crosses a separate network boundary.
Which platforms are supported?
Section titled “Which platforms are supported?”Aleph is built first for macOS. Windows and Linux are planned.
Is Aleph open source or self-hosted?
Section titled “Is Aleph open source or self-hosted?”Not yet. Aleph 0.1.1 is currently distributed as a packaged macOS application.
I plan to open-source Aleph in the future through the same GitHub repository linked here. Third-party components will continue to retain their respective licenses.
